The Governors Policy is Not the Answer

The Governor's Policy is Not the AnswerThe fall of Governor Lee Brown's attempts to implement a one-size-fits-all education policy has sent shock waves through the Fresno State community. Some students and parents are displeased with his lack of concern over quality, while others are shocked that a former politician is now in charge of teaching the next generation. A few students are trying to find alternative methods to get their needed college credit, but others are simply wondering how far the Governor's actions will go.During Brown's two terms as Governor, Fresno State received some measure of success in completing its intended plan to increase graduation rates. However, the fact that the Governor failed to increase funding for the college indicates that his fiscal priorities were not in order. Fresno State does not receive a huge amount of money for the programs it runs, and Governor Brown did not provide any funding in an effort to try to pay for this part of the school. Accord ing to students, this may not be enough to reverse the academic decline that has been noted throughout the campus.Students across the board who are currently studying at Fresno State are particularly upset that Brown and his administration failed to protect the college and the future of the students currently attending. They understand that the policy that Brown tried to put in place was not meant to include students outside of Fresno State, and that's why many students are upset. They believe that the Governor is not up to the task of addressing students from outside the campus, and that may end up being the case. This is not good news for the community. Students have already lost one major voice and they now need to hope that the current leadership is able to correct the problems. If the students have any hope of receiving the college quality education that they deserve, they must speak out against the new administration that has taken over at Fresno State. Now, many students are co ncerned about the future of their student government. With so many different topics of discussion that needs to be covered, it may be difficult for students to keep a straight face when the topics are addressed. However, if students are asked what they think about the state of the school, they will be able to speak candidly about the issues and circumstances.Students may be frustrated by the situation, but it is important for them to think of the college education as important as their grade point average and class rank. If the schools are not receiving the quality education that students deserve, the grade point average will never reflect the effort that was put into studying, so it should not be too hard to see why some students are disappointed. However, if the governor is able to follow through on his promise to make Fresno State a better and more profitable institution for all of the students, then they should all be happy. For current students, it is a concern that they will no t be able to complete the coursework necessary to earn their degree and obtain their diploma. They are concerned that the current administration may not be able to deliver on the promise that was made to them when they enrolled. If the college is not able to comply with the higher education requirements, they will be unable to receive the help they need to finish their degrees and obtain their diplomas. In addition to the needs of students, the Governor's policy may also negatively impact the community as a whole. While the Governor is busy trying to overhaul the way Fresno State operates, the community at large is left wondering how far the changes will go. At the end of the day, Fresno State students are trying to complete their education, and the community needs to have the ability to support them in their efforts.
